Saturday night, May 6th, I attended Lynn University’s Fashion Show in support of Melly (my model). She majors in Fashion at Lynn University and in preparation for her graduation she has been participating in a lot of fashion shows, which have included partnerships with Saks. It’s crazy because I didn’t even know Lynn had a fashion program and here they are creating so many amazing collaborations for their students.
As I sat in the crowd and marveled over the designs this idea came over me! I want After 5 Lux to be a store designers are excited to have their brand featured in. Like “OMGGGG I can’t believe After 5 Lux is carrying my designs” lol. I want to attend fashion shows and pounce on emerging talent lol.
There was one designer I took a particular interest in. She created a bunch of 70’s denim looks with color block sleeves and pockets. She played with textures, making some sleeves and pockets leather, while others were made of fur. I could see her items being carried in a store like LF or American Apparel. And that goes to speak on the importance of branding! Just like I could tell these items could be placed in those stores, people look at certain items and know they came from After 5 Lux. Like this suit lol 🙂 Could you tell it was from After 5 Lux?
I love this suit for so many reasons! For one, it’s androgynous. A woman wearing this suit looks strong and powerful (and rich lol) but the flowers make it ultra feminine. I like the high-waist cut of the pants because like I told you guys before, I still have a pudge I’m working on. I also like the idea that the trench and pants don’t have to be worn at the same time. You can double back and wear the trench as a dress. And triple back and wear the trench with jeans and a white tank. The versatility of the suit makes it a great investment.
