Pattern-on-Pattern

I don’t know why, but lately I have been over-obsessing about pattern-on-pattern looks. Three weeks ago on the blog, I shared another pattern-on-pattern look. When I saw this set I said “Come to mama!” I have been on the hunt for a patterned two piece look since my trip to New York so when I saw this one in BCBGeneration, I had to have it. It was 50% off with an additional 40% off. Let’s be honest, who could resist a deal like that? I scored the whole set for $60.

The set is a mix of polyester, rayon, and cotton. The all over Geo Stripe jacquard is fun and flirty. It totally channels 70’s vibes. The midi-length vest has an open front, and two front patch pockets that are a convenient storage for your cellphone, lipstick, and breath mints. The vest is matched with a skirt containing the same Geo Stripe jacquard. The v shaped cut in the front of the skirt is giving more thigh action than your favorite chicken place.

Perhaps the best part about this set is the versatility that it offers. You don’t have to wear them together just because you purchased them together. The vest could be worn again with a long sleeve solid black dress. The vest could also be paired with jeans and a nice pair of closed-toe pumps. You could style the skirt with a button down. Throw on some flats and some stockings and you’re ready for work.

A key component of styling is adding texture to your look. I added leather open-toe booties to make the look some-what sexy.

This turtle neck is actually the same one I wore with the red BCBG suit. I wanted a top with the neck and sleeves extending beyond the vest. Dimensions are also important to styling — pair something short with something long, something loose with something fitted. Can’t wait to see you guys in your pattern-on-pattern looks.
