Chill. Random. Intimate. Those are a couple of words to describe my Saturday. Yesterday my boyfriend and I decided to go have lunch at the Breakfast Shack, one of my favorite quaint breakfast spots. From there, the day spiraled into so many random acts of fun.
We journeyed to his hometown to visit his father. On the car ride there, we were totally channeling Bonnie and Clyde vibes — Cruising with the sunroof back, soaking in the sun as its rays permeated through my melanin skin, jammin’ to our favorite artists, recording videos as we sang, snapping the occasional selfie, and reminiscing about old times.
We said our goodbyes then headed back to the city to have dinner and dessert. We moseyed our way over to my parents’ home from there. With my hectic schedule, I hardly ever see them besides on Sundays, so it was nice to spend some additional quality time with them. The all-star grandparents that they are, they had a house full of little people running around spilling joy all over the place. It was nice to also have my siblings over. After deep conversations about life and politics, we needed something to lighten the moment.
My siblings and I went to a bar nearby. I have to thank the bartender who was serving up these amazing Hercules drinks; they were strong. Walking out the bar, we exchanged hugs and the night concluded there. As you get older and more busier, time with family is the most fulfilling thing.
I adore this crossbody handbag, given to me while at New York Fashion Week by the company Gigi New York. As mentioned in my last post, what made it extra special is they pressed my initials on to it. It comes with a removable gold chain, allowing you to be handsfree when needed. I decided to remove the chain because with the trench draped around my shoulders the chain may slip off my shoulder. Also, wearing it as a crossbody would have clustered the look.
I added the suede coat to the outfit to give it a little more spunk, color, and texture. As you can see, without it, the outfit is much more casual. I love the length of the skirt. Exceeding the knee, the length gives the skirt the dose of class it needs. The tears in the skirt are proportionate and the material is very thick. I like the cut-off look at the bottom of the skirt because it keeps the destroyed theme all together. Lastly, I love that the skirt is high-waisted, which makes the skirt more form-fitted and sexy.
To keep the look fresh and clean, I paired it with a white button down. The texture of shirt is linen and very light weight. Because the tears in the skirt are white, it was sensible the shirt should be white as well. Nude heels keep the look soft. Closed toe pumps keep the look classy.
