Whisking in and out of blistering winds, combating a congestion of red tail lights back to back just to get to your destination, squirming your eyes around to admire the ornate ensembles of other fashion enthusiasts– I was where I am supposed to be. Being at New York Fashion Week this past weekend made me really digest how much love I have for fashion and the life that comes with it. Knowing that the shows would be packed with other stylists, bloggers, and designers, I wanted to wear something eye-catching, and what could be more eye-catching than red?
Everything was very deliberate and very thought out. What sold this suit was the cape sleeves and the deep v clipping. Preferably I would have loved to wear this suit with no top under it, but of course the weather wasn’t permissible to such wants. For a wintery look, the suit had to be paired with a dark colored turtle neck. I texturized the look by adding in a silky black turtle neck. The red and black pairing fitted perfectly with my ombre Christian Louboutin heels. I accented the look with gold accessories and a black and gold clutch to keep the ensemble rich. To make the turtle neck pop I chose to pair it with a thick gold choker. I also paid attention to special details such as the coloring of my nails and lip. Bangs are a cutting edge hairstyle so it was perfect for the outfit as well as the event.
The main show I attended was for Chinese designer Taoray Wang, as she released her Fall/Winter 2016 line. It was British inspired, specifically channeling the Victorian period. It was nice to see her embrace another culture. I love androgynous looks with a hint of feminism and her line was just that. Quality patterned navy and grey blazers, coats, and slacks, held together with a waist-cinching burgundy belt with silky black tassels. Enjoy a full video of the show and the featured garments.

After the show, I headed over to a social event orchestrated by Shop Style, a leading search engine for trending fashions. I enjoyed myself so much. It was fun mingling with style gurus while flipping through racks of well tailored clothing and perfectly sewn handbags. I was ecstatic to receive some complimentary goodies from some of the designers there. Below are pictures of some of the necklaces and handbags that I received.
If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you’ve seen me wear this bag already. Not featured on the blog is a bag from Gigi Handbags that I also love. It is a leather red crossbody handbag with a fringe keychain dangling by the zipper. The crossbody chain is gold. What made the bag extra special is Gigi went the extra mile to place my initials on it. And guess what? It is actually called the “Chelsea Crossbody” How honorable!
After attending NYFW for the first time my goal is to be in attendance every season from here on out. I would also like to venture out to shows in Paris and Milan (fingers crossed).
