Ok. I confess. I have a really, really, BIG problem: I always feel like I have to buy a new outfit every time I step out. I am pretty sure I am not alone, especially with the recent surge in social media. There is this pressure that once you post an outfit you cannot wear it again, well at least for a couple of months. I have often caught myself scrolling deeeeeeeppp down into my posts like “Oh, its been 57 weeks since I last wore this! I wonder if people remember it.” But the fact is, who caressss if they remember? I’ve decided to free myself from this ridiculous thought process and hopefully you will too. Besides, you bought it, wear the color off it.
I first purchased this top two and a half years ago. I wore it to a special occasion dinner. I paired it with a white suit that had black detailed lining (To see the old look visit my Instagram). My favorite thing about the blouse is that it is androgynous; having both male and female qualities.
I must have searched for days and days on end for a top to match this high-low pleated A-line skirt. I knew it had to be something formal, but I just could not find a shirt that stood out to me. Suddenly it hit me! “Chelsea you have that black and white bow-tie shirt at home. DUHHH!” So I rushed home to try it on together and it was a perfect match. WINNINGGGG…
I wish I could give you a reason why I chose to wear open toe shoes, but I can’t. Its just like you know when an outfit calls for open toe shoes and you know when it does not.
I am about to let you guys in on a secret. One of my biggest style weapons is Madrag. I absolutely loveee <3 this store. While they may sell a lot of low quality looking items, they also sell better made products as well. I literally visit the store every week to see the new inventory. You have to develop the skill of being able to identify higher quality items. For example, look at the thickness of the fabric or the richness of the color.
And finally the part you have been waiting for… So where can you find all these fabulous items?
BLOUSE: Forever 21 $22 – similar here and here, // PLEATED A-LINE SKIRT: Madrag $30 – similar here, here, and here
STRAPPY SANDAL HEEL: Madrag $20- similar here, here, and here
A whole look for under $100. Oh, ok! Wear this ensemble to a nice bar, a dinner date, church, and possibly to work on a Friday. I’m encouraging you guys to search through your own inventory before you run out and spend wastefully. The money you save can be used for an entrepreneurial endeavor 😉
Can’t wait to see how you guys make this look your own.
