Transferable Inspiration

On Saturday, a long time friend invited me to lunch to discuss her business plans. Having owned my own clothing company before and having a sense of style, I love to sit down with people and discuss how to expand their vision/brand. The funny thing though was that although I was there to inspire her, she ended up inspiring me.

We stuffed our faces at City Cellar in West Palm Beach (which has the most amazing brunch/lunch menu).  She is such a picky eater, but I got her to try something out of her norm. While munching, we talked about the past, present, and the future. We talked about old flames, school, work, current relationships, and most  importantly the next steps in growing our brands. It was refreshing to be truthful with someone and share the raw information about owning a business. We had such a good lunch we decided to extend our day and spend more time with each other.

She told me she had never visited the Palm Beach island before. Fortunately for her, that is where I shoot mostly all my blog posts so I am some-what familiar with the area. I took her to see the infamous Worth Ave. which is a luxurious street loaded with high-end designers. I wanted to just show her the area, but she wanted to go in the stores (which was something I had never done). I think I am like most people in that aspect — if I know I cannot afford something I do not go in the store. I always felt like it was a waste of time. She showed me different. So here we were in the Chanel store, grabbing on $5,000 leather goods. She told me she likes to visit high-end stores just for inspiration. She said “I like nice things. And going into the stores and looking at the price tags gives me the inspiration I need to go harder.” She also discussed the importance of her buying things that she can wear multiple times. She truly knows the value of a hard earned dollar. Perhaps the most important thing she said that touched me was when she stated that she can have these material things right now “but what does [she] look like walking around with a $1000 pair of shoes when [she] doesn’t even have her s*** together?”

That inspired me because I love designer items, and purchase them quite frequently, but I know there are other things I need to be prioritizing. I truly enjoyed my afternoon with this sweet girl. It was great that we were able to inspire each other. And isn’t that what life is about? Inspiring others…

About My Look:

I wanted to wear something comfortable but chic so I threw on this little number. It was something easy to throw on and it did not need ironing. I love the blues and greens of the leaves on the romper. The colors are so bright and tropical which is perfect for the summer. I love the halter cut of the romper paired with the flared top. The combination of the two gives such a romantic feel. I paired the ensemble with a parakeet necklace to throw in more color and really get the tropical vibe popping. Whether you are trying to keep cool or be cool this summer, this romper should definitely be on your list!

Shop the look:

ROMPER: Intrigue (located in the Boca Raton mall, but you can also shop online by clicking here) // NECKLACE: Forever 21 (sold out) – similar here, here, and here.
